Country Director meets with the Prime Minister
On 28 June 2010 Heifer Nepal’s Country Director Dr. Shubh N. Mahato paid a visit to the Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal on his request. In the meeting the Prime Minister enquired about Heifer’s area and scope work. He also commented that many high level politicians had good reviews of Heifer and its work in Nepal. The possibilities and challenges of scaling-up of Heifer’s approach at a national level were also discussed.
Heifer has had some considerable presence in the media for the impacts of its work all over Nepal. A recent article written by a prominent politician after visiting a Heifer project area has had positive feedback in and outside Nepal. Not only does such spontaneous appreciation encourage those associated with Heifer but it also proves to be the best advocacy of our work. The Nepali media has also been especially gracious with features about Heifer’s work and its communities.
The communities we work in have gained acclaim and respect in their own circles. Politicians, government representatives, journalists alike have time and again spoken about the true people’s empowerment through Heifer’s projects.
“The level of empowerment in Heifer’s communities compels one to take note and commend. Many politicians and social leaders have awed at the people’s transformation through Heifer’s projects. I am grateful towards all those who are spreading the word about Heifer. I hope all this positive feedback results in replication of Heifer’s work models in more organizations and the government. It would help many more families and communities lead better and more dignified lives,” said Shubh N. Mahato.
